FCYB: Coaches and Parents

As we enter the final month of the season, we’d like you to give extra attention to the following:

1. Cheer positively – do not call out or accost anyone – especially officials. We’ve had parents mixing it up with players, coaches, and officials. Please do not.
2. Basketball is a contact sport where injuries are not uncommon – it is natural to react when our children are hurt – but try to temper your reaction – and focus on your child – not the officials or the play or players involved.
3. Zero-Tolerance for unsportsmanlike behavior – we asked our officials to eject participants for verbal attacks, profanity, racial-based comments and other unsportsmanlike conduct at the start of the season. They will continue to do so.
4. Officials officiate. Coaches Coach. Players Play. Fans Cheer. When you cross into another role – you upset the fun, safe and competitive environment FCYBL provides our children.

Let’s finish the season strong by modeling the behaviors we want our children to learn and practice.
